Infrastructure inspections is the process of examining and assessing multiple components of critical infrastructure systems such as power lines, substations, railroads, pipelines, bridges, and buildings to identify potential or existing operational and mechanical issues. Our revolutionized approach for inspecting critical infrastructure by utilizing drones to capture high resolution data to identify any maintenance issues, effective planning strategies for capital improvement and upgrade projects, and to utilize drone technology for safer inspection methods. The main goal of critical infrastructure inspection is to ensure that the infrastructure is operating towards optimal performance, safe and cost-reducing methods and to ensure reliability needs are met.
Infrastructure inspections involves a range of tasks, including visual inspections, asset management, testing, and data collection. Our drones collect data to examine structural integrity, corrosion, wear and tear, and other risks that can affect reliability and safety. Overall, Aurora Drone Services have provided clients with highly precise data and detailed results used for decision-making demands.
Drone surveying and mapping utilizes unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to scan and collect spatial data from aerial views. Our drones are equipped with high-resolution cameras and laser scanners that achieves real-time, geo-referenced data collections for the following usages:
Drone mapping and surveying are commonly used in engineering, mining, agriculture, construction, site planning, and energy sectors for a more reliable, faster and safer way to survey property. Aurora Drone Services drone collects hundreds to thousands of images that are processed using photogrammetry software that consolidates the images to create geo-referenced orthomosaics models (2-D and 3-D). Our high accuracy data is achieved using an RTK equipped drone and GNSS ground points that consistently communicates with each other to provide accurate coordinates (within 10 centimeters) of the area being surveyed.
Specialized drones (UAVs) are equipped with high resolution thermal cameras (FLIR) designed to capture and transmit infrared radiation data. The integration of advanced sensor and imaging software allows for precise temperature and moisture measurements for any maintenance and repair decision-making processes. This thermal technology enables the detection of heat anomalies by converting thermal energy into visible images to facilitate tasks of identifying overheating and heat losses for various usages that may include issues in electrical systems, monitoring wildlife and environmental conditions, examining solar panels, LDAR for pipelines, inspecting cell towers, detecting building insulation and roofing issues, and enhancing law enforcement search and rescue operations. Using thermal drones have been beneficial for quick results, safer approaches, and more reliable data to ensure proper decision-making solutions.
Drones capture high quality aerial images that are integrated with software to produce 2D and 3D models known as photogrammetry. Photogrammetry is commonly used in surveying and mapping applications to measure coordinates, distance, angles, and elevation of an area. This data is placed into a specialized software using algorithms to construct 2D/3D models or orthomoasic maps.
In addition, LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is a type of remote sensing that uses pulses of laser light to measure distance. With our specialized LiDAR laser equipped drones, we have the capability to produce LiDAR (RGB) 3D models and maps including GPS information of terrain or structure used for land surveying, civil infrastructure and construction, agriculture, archeological findings, mining, oil and gas, and energy. Aurora Drone Services licensed pilots are knowledgeable of the applications to using drones to capture comprehensive data to supply projects with reliable and quick results to determine project solutions.
Whether the project takes us to a major metropolitan city, a mid-sized town, or a rural area far away from civilization, we’re ready to deploy FAA-certified pilots and follow stringent safety measures. Connect with Aurora Drone Services for a quote, and let’s explore the right solution for you.
